It's going to be a long season: A recap so far

After the first six games a few things are clear about the Cubs this season. With the exception of Paul "Go Daddy Dot Com" Maholm's horrible first inning the starting pitching has been better than advertised in my opinion. I actually give him credit for gutting it out a few more innings despite Cubs fans yelling "Your mother should have swallowed you! Go back to Shittsburgh". However the offense really will never score consistently and it might be a stretch for them to even put up more than four runs a game. Dempster had two solid outings with virtually no run support and I expect more of the same from Garza. Shark decided not to hit the clubs the night before and had a great outing, but we will see if he can build off of it. Volstad will be a solid 4 and hopefully eat innings. Overall the Cubs starting pitching has been solid and I expect that to continue somewhat.

The bullpen is a joke. That's really all that needs to be said, but hopefully Marmol can regain his previous form and not put enough people on base to make a line longer than the women's bathroom line at Wrigley when David Wright is in town. Wood got fucked by the ump on Opening Day, but we will see how he rebounds. I think he will be serviceable. Russell is OK at best as a lefty one out guy. The rest of the bullpen is unproven, however I like what I see from Dolis, Mateo etc. However Camp can go back to jerking off Ichiro in the Mariners clubhouse. Although a bullpen is all for nothing if there are no leads to protect.

The lineup will struggle to score runs all season most likely. Soriano is serviceable but obviously declining (I still cheer for the sexy Latin). Byrd is trade bait when Jackson is ready to rage and hookup with sluts in Wrigleyville. Dejesus' hot wife is the best he's got going for him, but he's OK. Stewart will be below average, but hopefully not a glaring spot. Castro will get better. Barney leads the team in home runs. Read that again. LaHair is a joke and Rizzo will be up by June. Soto looks like he might be smoking weed again. The bench is average I guess, but the bottom line is runs will be hard to come by. Byrd popping up bunts won't help.

I'm going to sit back and enjoy some brews and dogs at the park and pray to God that we don't lose 100 games this year. I'll just keep telling myself we will be serious World Series contenders in 3 years. I have faith in Theo and this thing isn't even fully deconstructed yet. Go Cubbies
