The Pimp Hand Prophecies: 2012 MLB Predictions

The Franchise has never been one to doubt his teams. Lately, with the Blackhawks and Packers taking titles and the Bulls poised to make a run at their own, he hasn't had to see the glass half-empty. As we move towards baseball season, he sees improvements aplenty at Clark and Addison this summer. After the jump, the man now known as Castro's Pimp Hand lays the smack down with his 2012 MLB predictions including overall standings, playoff winners, end-of-season awards, over/unders and boldly optimistic Cubs thoughts.

NL MVP : Matt Kemp,  I know he was off the charts last year and it will be hard to do it again but I think the new ownership is going to provide some stability in LA and he is going to go out and have a better year. 2nd: Jose Reyes, 3rd: Justin Upton

AL MVP: Robinson Cano, He has put up solid numbers over the past 3 seasons.  This year his average will be back up and he will get a few more power numbers with a healthy A-rod and the rest of the lineup for protection. 2nd: Cabrera 3rd Gonzalez

NL Cy Young: Roy Halladay, basically him and Lee are going to put up monster numbers so it is a toss up. I do believe this cy young race is going to be very competitive with Josh Johnson, Ian Kennedy and Kershaw all in the mix as well.  2nd Lee, 3rd Johnson.

AL Cy Young.  Jared Weaver, He is going to benefit from the extra offense he gained as well as the competition of having CJ Wilson as a fellow starter.  2nd Verlander, 3rd Hernanadez.

NL ROY: Drew Pomeranz, I agree with Kiel about Drew he is going to have a solid year.  The only way this will change is if Bryce Harper comes up earlier than is expected or if Yonder masters the art of the double in Petco. I really like Yonder but to bad of a team and to big of a home park to get the power numbers he would get elsewhere. 2nd, Yonder Alonso 3rd Bryce Harper

AL ROY: Yu Darvish, I am buying into the hype and I think he is going to be a solid starter.  Much better than his fellow countrymen that have come over before him. The fact that his team is going to be in a dead heat with the angels for the west also helps.  2nd Moore 3rd Montero.

Daily over/unders:
1. Wins for Andy Pettitte - 10  (Under, 8)
2. Wins for Carlos Zambrano - 12 ( over, unlucky 13)
3. Hits by Ichiro Suzuki - 190 (over, 203)

5. Home Runs for Albert Pujols - 38 (over 41)
6. Number of different ways national publications spell Samardzija - 3 (over 5)
7. Times you'll attend a baseball game this season - 8 (under 6)
8. RBIs for Prince Fielder - 115 ( over 122)
9. At-Bats for Manny Ramirez - 250 (under 175)
10. ERA of Stephen Strasburg - 3.75 (under 2.84)

.
My bold Cubs statements:

The cubs will be in first place in the NL Central at some point in the month of June.
Starlin will finish top 5 for batting title.
Marmol will have just 5 blown saves.
Samardzija will win 6 games before the all star break.
The cubs will be in the over for their win line of 74.5 (I have them at 78)
Tim Borem will blackout before the top of the 4th inning on opening day.
Brian LaHair will hold onto the 1st base starting job for longer then everyone else in the world thinks. The kid can flat out hit and I believe that his .331, 38 HRS and 109 RBIs what no fluke in AAA

I'll do a little blog spot after the first week when I see more of the cubs in action as well as the rest of the league. Also, I'll give my opinion of the new additions to the friendly confines (ie bud deck and jumbo screen)
